The EDA of Gloucester County and the Gloucester County Office of Economic Development supports existing industries through a variety of means, including making referrals to sources for business assistance, workforce development and training, helping to locate resources for expansion, and as a business/government liaison. The Lewis B. Puller Center is a multi-faceted work center located in Gloucester, Virginia that serves more than 60 citizens with developmental disabilities from the ten counties on the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. The Puller Center provides long - term employment, training and day support services to adults with developmental and other disabilities. While other organizations offer programs for adults with disabilities, The Lewis B. Puller Center is the only work center on the Middle Peninsula/ Northern Neck. In addition to the pride and independence that comes from earning their own wages, regular work allows people with disabilities to engage in ongoing physical activity and benefit from regular social interaction.
