Enjoy the current exhibit, “A TOUCH OF SILK” by Traute LeemanTraute Leemann, living in Yorktown since 1985, has exhibited regularly since 1992 at local and regional shows and galleries, starting with Yorktown’s On the Hill Gallery where she still sells her work. In 2014 she shared a major show with three other artists at This Century Art Gallery in Williamsburg. She has exhibited her work at several An Occasion for the Arts shows in Williamsburg, the Aesthetica exhibitions 2002 and 2004 in Williamsburg, Art on the Vine 2003 at the Williamsburg Winery, in a one person show at the Trellis restaurant, the Healing Hands of Art at the Williamsburg Regional Library, at Cristallo Gallery’s The Finer Things (II through VI), Blue Skies Gallery, and several others.

COLOR YOUR CANVAS ADULT  July 17 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm  $35picture of actual painting

Join us for a fun paint-in night taught by professional artist Patrizia Giovanna Smith. Patrizia brings over 25 years experience as a painter & teacher to help you create your own masterpiece! In July, Smith will demonstrate how to create joyous colors and freely flowing paint in a process known as “Flow Art”, or Acrylic Pouring. $35pp, all supplies, 2 drinks & refreshments are included. Please reserve by 5pm the day prior.

 

EXPLORING COLD WAX PAINTING  July 27-30 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm  $135

Have you ever wondered about encaustic painting but didn’t want to be involved with toxic fumes and heat guns? If so, cold wax oil painting might be for you. If you enjoy working with texture, cold wax is another way to develop texture and form in your art. Learn the basics of cold wax painting and experiment with using this method while developing your design skills and starts for new projects. During this workshop, there will be demonstrations to teach basic work with the oil and cold wax process. Bring a readiness to learn new techniques and lots of enthusiasm.
This workshop is taught by Mary Montague Sikes. Sikes has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her paintings are in the collections of the College of William and Mary Law Library, Media General, Philip Morris, Marriott Hotels, SuperClubs Jamaica, One Capitol Square (Richmond VA), and many more. Her work is also part of numerous private collections in the United States and abroad.
The workshop runs for 3 days from July 27th-30th. Class fee is $135 for the 3 days. Supply list provided upon registration.
