The Gloucester Village is gearing up for an exciting few weeks filled with holiday events including Small Business Saturday, Christmas Parade, Community Tree Lighting and the annual Christmas Open House.
“We are really looking forward to bringing in the Christmas spirit and showcasing the historic Gloucester Village,” said Gloucester Main Street Association Executive Director Ashley Gilmartin. “The holidays are the perfect time to visit our charming downtown and enjoy the beautiful decorations.”
November 28th is ‘Small Business Saturday,’ also known as ‘Shop Small.’ It’s a great way for us to promote small businesses in the area for the holiday shopping season,” she said. This will be the sixth annual Small Business Saturday, a program that was launched to support local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy, and preserve neighborhoods around the country.
American Express is the founding partner of Small Business Saturday and offers card holders special credits when shopping at spots just like those in the Gloucester Village. Look for special promotions downtown this day at your favorite spot.
The Gloucester Citizen’s Christmas & Holiday Parade hosted by Gloucester County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is set for Saturday, December 5th at 3:00 pm. A home-town favorite with all the ingredients: community organizations line up to strut their stuff, local school bands march down Main Street and Santa closes the deal! Finish off the day with the Community Tree Lighting at 5:00 pm in the historic court circle. Enjoy live music by the Botetourt Elementary School choir.
Businesses in the Gloucester Village invite you to usher in the holiday season with the annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 6th. Over 25 unique stores and restaurants will be open from 1-5 offering great gift selections, specials, festive decorations, gift wrapping, drawings, refreshments and much more! This is a great opportunity to cross gifts off your list and enjoy a stroll for the holidays!
Spend $50 at any participating Dash Downtown business now through December 24 to earn a rewards card. Return to that store in January 2016 with the rewards card and receipt to receive 20% off your purchase.
Think you know the Gloucester Village? Think again! Stop by your favorite Main Street stores and discover some of our new and expanded businesses as you shop for your friends and loved ones.
“If you haven’t been to Main Street in the past few months you are certainly in for a treat. We have seen 13 businesses open or expand this year alone. That along with the continued interest in the Façade and Interior grant programs offered by the MSPT has brought along major visible changes and growth to Main Street.”
Be sure to check with individual shops for their offerings! Visit gloucestervillage.com for a list of all businesses.
