Gloucester Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia, challenges you to GIVE LOCAL. GIVE GLOUCESTER. during the 2015 Amazing Raise.  From 6am, Wednesday, September 16 until 6pm, Thursday, September 17, there are 36 hours for you to make online donations to your favorite local nonprofits.  Giving during this time not only provides support for the organization, but also helps them win additional incentive prizes ranging from $500 to $15,000.

“Last year, through The Amazing Raise, nearly $60,000 was raised for organizations serving Gloucester and Mathews in just 36 hours.  That was part of the combined $1.7 million raised for the Greater Richmond area, Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.  Gifts can be as small as $25, which gives everyone the opportunity to make a difference,” said Gloucester Community Foundation Advisory Board member Stephanie Heinatz.  “For 2015, The Gloucester Community Foundation has the goal of bring in $100,000 into Gloucester nonprofits alone.  It is possible to ‘Be Vocal. Give Local. Give Gloucester.’ to make this happen.”  Not only does the event bring in local donors, but because of the online platform, donations will come in to our community from across the nation and around the world.

Because all giving is done online, you can make your donation at 1am when you cannot sleep or on your lunch break at work.  If you’d like to come out and donate, visit a local giving station across Gloucester, and use laptops and computers at each location to GIVE LOCAL. Giving stations include Juan’s Mexican Cantina during lunch and dinner hours Wednesday and lunch on Thursday, Gloucester Arts on Main from 12pm-6pm both days, and both branches of the Gloucester County Library during regular hours.

During the 36 hours, 6am, Wednesday, September 16 through 6pm, Thursday, September 17, go online to www.TheAmazingRaise.org.  Choose from your favorite local nonprofits, and make a donation!  Be Vocal. Give Local.  Support the organizations in Gloucester that are making a difference.
