The 1st Annual GCPL Comic Con was held at the Main Library on Saturday, August 13 and attended by 2,054 fans brought together by their passion for pop culture and having a good time at their local Library.

Hundreds of attendees dressed up for the event, impersonating a galaxy of characters like Wonder Woman, Storm Troopers, Batman, Rapunzel, Joker, Darth Vader, Strawberry Shortcake, Batgirl, Ghostbusters, Spiderman, Mad Max, Statue of Liberty, Wizard, Amora the Enchantress, Manga Kimono Girl, Jedi, and Pikachu to only name a few! Prizes were awarded during a culminating costume contest.

The event was filled with exciting activities for all ages: crafts, games, face painting, story times, refreshments, and more! Attendees had the chance to interact with Jersey’s Cards, & Comics, schmoose with the 501st Legion Storm Troopers, meet and greet NWA Fusion Wrestlers, learn comic art skills from Tim Dzon (Marvel Comic Artist), enjoy demonstrations with Heroclix, YuGiOh!, Magic the Gathering, Pokemon Cards, video game designs, and so much more!

For those fans who dared to go out in the heat, side lawn activities included: GamerBus, Battle Bots, Gargoyle’s Gate Larping, and Bookmobile Superhero Story times.
