Help send Boy Scout Troop 111 to Philmont High Adventure Camp.

Boy Scout Troop 111

Boy Scout Troop, Troop 111 out of Gloucester, VA, has been given the opportunity of a lifetime to attend the Philmont High Adventure Camp in Cimarron, New Mexico.  Due to the high demand to attend Philmont, Troops are selected through a lottery process.  Troop 111 won twelve slots for Scouts and Scouters to attend the 2014 Camp.  As a matter of principle, they believe that it’s important for any Scout who wishes to attend be responsible for earning money for the trip.  The Troop has done a number of fundraisers over the last year to help offset the cost, but even that will not be enough.  Please consider becoming a sponsor and help send Troop 111 to Philmont Scout Ranch.

Troop 111 was first charted in 1919 and still meets in the historic cabin on Main Street.  They are active participants in our community and perform many service projects like constructing hiking and nature trails, maintaining the grounds of the historic Walter Reeds Birthplace, and working with local women’s shelters, and humane societies.

The Boy Scouts are also collecting scrap metal, steel, and copper for recycling. Again, please consider supporting these deserving young men with a contribution or sponsorship.  If you are interested in meeting or would like more information, please feel free to contact George Bains at (804) 815-1660.
