The Ware River Circle of King’s Daughters and Sons (WRCKDS) is planning its 26th Annual Christmas Open House at Exchange. Tuesday, December 8th, commemorating a grand total of $126,000 donated to the Children’s Hospital of Kings Daughters (CHKD) since 1984. Exchange is a beautifully restored historic waterfront home on 7.85 acres with English boxwoods, ancient trees and lovely gardens. Heavy crown molding, wainscoting & portrait windows accentuate the interior. The beautiful, updated kitchen boasts a brick fireplace and double wall ovens.

The 7.85-acre landscaped property includes 448 feet of frontage on the North River, a dock with a covered boat lift, a swimming pool, a guest cottage/pool house, a three-car garage, a three-car carriage house, smoke house, potting shed, quaint little garconniere (daily barn) and plantation workers sleeping loft.

Festive refreshments will include a hors d’oeuvres buffet with champagne punch specially prepared and contributed by members of the WRCKDS. Christmas floral arrangements designed and displayed in each room by WRCKDS members will be a special attraction throughout the house. Additionally, event sponsors and vendors will be featured in the community.

The Christmas Open House is the WRCKDS primary fundraising event of the year. Proceeds of the event benefit the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters and the Ronald McDonald House.
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the Silver Box in Gloucester Courthouse, from any member of WRCKDS or by calling Sue Hewitt at (804) 241-2757. Checks should be made payable to WRCKD.
Sessions for the Christmas Open House are: 12 – 1 p.m., 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., 3:00 – 4:00, and 4:30- 5:30 and limited to 125 guests per session.
