Get up and dance at this week’s Summer Nights Market!

Summer Nights Market

Join us on Wednesday, July 30th for Shaggin’ at the Market. Enjoy beach music by the Shagging DJ and live dance demonstrations.

So what is Carolina Shagging? According to our friends at Wikipedia, the ‘Carolina Shag’ is a partner dance done primarily to Beach Music (100-130+ beats per minute.) Today, the Shag is a recognized dance in national and international dance competitions held across the United States. The term “Carolina Shag” is thought to have originated along the strands between Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Wilmington, North Carolina, during the 1940s.

Upcoming Events:

“Fiesta Night” sponsored by the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce- August 6th. They’re bringing back the bounce house (generously supplies by Grand Rental Station) and chamber members are planning some fun games for the kids. Enjoy live music by The Americana Lovebirds. Contact the Chamber Offices or Rachael Hicks at 804-815-8166 if you’d like to volunteer or participate as a vendor.

“Celebrate Art” sponsored by the Cook Foundation- August 13th. The Chrysler Museum’s Mobile Glass Studio will be on site again this year to share the magic of live glassblowing with audiences. Kids that come will also receive a free pack of chalk and have the opportunity to create some original chalk art.
