Gloucester Arts on Main invites you to experience the music of Julie Clack on Saturday, March 25, 2017. This is the first concert in the new Singer Songwriter Series. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.
To listen to Clark’s music is to plunge into emotion… sometimes splashing playfully on the surface of light-heartedness, sometimes diving deeply into more complex feelings. Regardless of which emotion is stirred, you’ll find her unique voice and lyrics to be remarkably expressive. Her original songs touch on the human experiences of love and lust, heartbreak and obsession, secret yearnings, and the struggle between temptation and commitment.
Clark’s awards and accolades include winning the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition, joining a list of winners that includes Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin. She was also awarded First Place in the Great American Song Contest, Folk/Acoustic category, was named Folk/Acoustic Artist of the Year at the Virginia Music Awards, and has received numerous honors in The John Lennon International Songwriting Competition.
From her home base of Hampton, Virginia, Clark maintains a busy touring schedule of performances at premiere festivals and clubs, on the East Coast and beyond.
Beer and wine will be available for purchase. In addition to the concert experience, patrons can enjoy the current exhibition of paintings by Carolyn Thompson Dudley.
The Singer Songwriter Series celebrates musicians who write, compose and sing their own original material. Other dates and performers include: Trey & Jo Ann Epps- June 17th; Karl Werne- September 9th; M.S.G. Acoustic Blues Trio with Jackie Merritt, Miles Spicer and Resa Gibbs- February 10th (2018.)
