Ware Academy Offers New Student Scholarships for 2014-2015 Academic Year
Ware Academy is pleased to announce that it will offer a limited number of $1,000 scholarships to new students looking to enroll in Gloucester, Va.’s only independent day school for the 2014-2015 academic year.
The scholarships will be available to families entering the admissions process now and to students (rising Kindergarteners through eighth grade) who qualify for admission to Ware Academy. Register before August 29 to qualify.
“Ware Academy is a special place of learning for the whole child and it’s because of the support of our community and our families here that we are able to open up these scholarships to welcome new families to our campus,” said Ginger James, Direct of Admissions and Special Events for the school. “The more new families we have, the stronger our campus becomes.”
The school’s signature fundraising events during the 2013-2014 academic year – the annual auction and golf tournament – raised a record amount of funds. The annual Ware Academy Fund drive, led by Glen Taylor, Ware Academy Director of Development, was the largest and most successful in the school’s history, raising nearly $85,000. The goal was $75,000.
“We made our goal because of the community here at Ware,” Taylor said, highlighting that the fund was supported by the school’s faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, parents, alumni, local corporations and businesses.
At Ware Academy, faculty and staff highlight four key areas that set the school apart for its students from Pre-K 3 to eighth grade – academics, arts, athletics and alumni.
Students at Ware Academy take part in a unique character development program aimed to help teach them leadership from a young age. The academic rigor inside and out of the classroom (thanks to a robust field trip and hands-on learning mission) gives students the foundation they need to be successful at Ware Academy and through whatever high school they attend. It readies students for top-notch colleges and scholarship potential.
The co-curricular offerings, including sports, dance, music, fine arts and more, round out the learning environment for each student. In the 2013-2014 school year, for example, the students puts on two full-scale dance performances for the community and the girls varsity volleyball team went undefeated.
Earlier this year, Ware Academy was recognized for its programming by Virginia Living Magazine, which named the school among the top independent schools in the state.
“We are proud of our teachers and students,” said Thomas L. Thomas, III, Ware Academy’s Head of School. “The children delight in hands-on and applied learning. When our graduates matriculate to secondary school we see them blossom into incredibly confident, gifted young adults.”
